熊本県阿蘇市に位置する温泉旅館「蘇山郷」の客室改修計画（第2期）。
既存施設の持つ空間構成や雰囲気を継承しながら、滞在の質を高めるための更新が求められた。

計画では、既存の構造や仕上げを活かしつつ、新たに手を加える部分との関係性を丁寧に調整し、新旧が違和感なく重なり合う空間を目指している。
過度な造作は避け、光の入り方や視線の抜けを整えることで、落ち着きのある客室環境を再構築した。

素材には、既存と親和性の高い左官や木を用い、時間の蓄積を感じさせる質感を大切にしている。
更新でありながらも場所の記憶を損なわず、阿蘇の自然とともに静かに滞在できる空間となることを目指した。

This project is the second-phase renovation of guest rooms at “Sozankyo,” a hot spring ryokan in Aso, Kumamoto.

While preserving the character of the existing building, the design carefully balances old and new elements to enhance the quality of stay.
By refining light, views, and spatial continuity, the rooms are reconfigured into calm and cohesive environments.

Materials such as plaster and wood are selected to align with the existing texture, allowing the space to retain a sense of time and memory.
The project aims to create a quiet atmosphere where guests can experience the surrounding nature of Aso.
