熊本県阿蘇市に位置する温泉旅館「蘇山郷」の改修計画。
阿蘇の雄大な自然環境の中に建つ既存施設に対し、風景との関係性を再編しながら、滞在体験の質を高めることが求められた。

建物全体は既存の構成を活かしつつ、外部と内部の連続性を丁寧に整え、光や視線の抜けを再構築している。各空間は過度に主張することなく、素材や陰影の重なりによって、落ち着きのある環境を形成した。

内部は左官や木などの自然素材を基調とし、時間の蓄積を感じさせる質感を大切にしている。新旧の要素が静かに重なり合うことで、場所の記憶を引き継ぎながら、現在の滞在にふさわしい空間へと更新している。

阿蘇の自然に包まれながら、穏やかな時間の流れを感じることのできる場となることを目指した。

This project is a renovation of “Sozankyo,” a hot spring ryokan in Aso, Kumamoto.
The design reinterprets the relationship between the existing building and the surrounding landscape to enhance the quality of stay.

While retaining the original structure, the project reorganizes light, views, and spatial continuity.
Natural materials such as plaster and wood create a calm atmosphere, where old and new elements are carefully layered.

The design aims to provide a quiet environment that allows guests to experience the gentle passage of time within the rich nature of Aso.
