熊本県菊陽町に計画された玉泉院菊陽会館の新築計画。
葬儀という非日常の時間の中で、遺族や参列者が静かに故人と向き合える場であると同時に、自宅のように心を落ち着けられる空間が求められた。

建物は、大空間の式場と車寄せを連続させることで、送りの動作が自然に流れる構成とし、内部外部の関係を緩やかにつなげている。構造には一般流通材を用いながら、梁の重なりや透けを操作することで、空間に奥行きと静けさを与えている。

内部は、木や落ち着いた素材を基調に構成し、過度な演出を避けながら、時間の流れをゆるやかに受け止める環境を整えた。日常と非日常のあいだにある「静かな居場所」として、地域に寄り添う場のあり方を提案している。

This project is the new construction of Gyokusenin Kikuyo Hall in Kikuyo, Kumamoto.
Within the extraordinary setting of a funeral, the design seeks to provide a space where families can quietly face their loved ones, while also offering the comfort of a familiar, home-like environment.

The building connects the main ceremonial hall with the drop-off area, allowing the sequence of farewell to unfold naturally. Using standard structural materials, layered and permeable beams are composed to create depth and a sense of calm within the large space.

The interior is formed with natural and subdued materials, avoiding excessive expression while gently holding the passage of time.
The project proposes a quiet place between the everyday and the extraordinary, rooted in the local community.
